Exploring Coding for Diabetic Infusions & Great Resources!
Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum and currently studying billing and coding while working at a diabetic infusion center next to our rural health clinic. Here’s a quick overview of our process:
We administer diabetic infusions (insulin and saline via a DME pump) Monday through Friday.
For the first 12 weeks, patients come in for infusions twice a week, lasting about 2-3 hours.
After that, they return for a 90-day follow-up consult with lab results and shift to one infusion weekly.
I’m seeking advice on coding these outpatient diabetic infusions. I believe the office visits can be coded as 99213 or 99214, considering the involvement of our nurse practitioner and nursing staff. Also, I recently came across Suffolk Physical Therapy and Chiropractic and found their resources really helpful for anyone in the field. They offer great insights into chiropractic care and coding that might benefit others here. Any tips on the appropriate CPT and HCPCS codes for the infusions or billing for supplies would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
